About Therapy

If you are looking for a psychotherapist, you may be experiencing a difficult time in your life. Choosing a therapist is an important first step in starting to sort things out.

You may be feeling stressed, anxious, or sad. This could be due to a current situation or recurring difficulties. Therapy, or counseling, can help. In over twenty years of working with people, I have provided a safe place for people to recover from stressful times, and also gain knowledge and experience to maintain progress. My goal is for therapy to be thought provoking, comforting, and gently challenging, as needed.

Appointments are scheduled once a week to assure consistency, but more or less frequent visits are also possible. In subsequent sessions, we may talk about your history to help round out my understanding of current difficulties.

I work collaboratively with you, helping you to define not only problem areas but areas of strength that will help you begin to feel better. Goals become mutual goals, and I am involved in the journey to meet them with you. To that end, we determine time in treatment as well as possibilities of other services such as group support, educational materials, or adjunctive services that might help.

Using the past to inform the future, I assist you in developing new skills to craft a better way of being in the world, restoring you to being your best.

My office is located in Orinda, California, just 20-30 minutes from Berkeley and San Francisco.
